Ipswich Town picked up a vital three points on Saturday with a 3-2 victory at Wigan Athletic – but has your view on the club’s current situation altered?
Blues boss Mick McCarthy was bold with his team selection at the DW Stadium – handing 17-year-old Andre Dozzell and Crystal Palace loanee Jonny Williams their first starts of the season. The fit-again Brett Pitman scored twice, while the three substitutes – Kevin Bru, Grant Ward and David McGoldrick – all made an impact in a spirited comeback win.
And yet, second-bottom Wigan had Town on the ropes for long spells in a game full of momentum shifts in Lancashire.
Ipswich have moved up to 15th in the Championship table – eight points above the drop zone and nine points adrift of the play-off places.
They now have back-to-back home games over the festive period – Fulham on Boxing Day (3pm) and Bristol City on Friday, December 30th (7.45pm).
