SIMON Harrison, attached to Thorpeness, plays in his first Challenge Tour event at the Glasson Golf Hotel and Country Club in Athlone in the Republic of Ireland.

Harrison, runner-up in the PGA East Region last year, has accepted an invitation to an event which starts on Thursday. Harrison is a coach to the Suffolk Golf Union under-14 boys' squad.

Among those in the field are South African Jean Hugo, former English Amateur champion Ross McGowan, John Morgan who won the Europro event at Ufford Park last year and Robert Coles who has plenty of European Tour experience.
