THERE are changes afoot with the SETEC scheme that operates out of Copleston School, Ipswich.

Sean Thacker has left the scheme to take a coaching role at Colchester United’s School of Excellence with director of sport at Copleston David Leach saying:

“There is a lot going on with our academy programme and meetings are taking place at the moment.”

Thacker said: “I applied for (and was subsequently offered) a coaching role at Colchester United within their Centre of Excellence because I was informed there were likely to be major cuts to support staff at Copleston School due to reduced funding, something that was confirmed to me in February.”

The scheme feeds talented youngsters through to the Copleston team in the Senior Division of the SIL having previously been connected with Ridgeons League Woodbridge Town.
