EH Men's Cup round two

Chelmsford 2 St Albans 1

In the second part of their weekend double-header, Chelmsford gained their first competitive victory of the season to progress in the EH Cup.

The Eesex side were able to give debuts to newly signed England international Jon Peckett and German under-16 international Bernhard Fohrmann, the latter currently studying at Felsted School.

A first half backhand goal from Duncan Woods, as well as a first goal in competitive first team hockey for Richard Nourse on his 18th birthday, set things in motion.

However, Chelmsford then missed a penalty stroke after Peckett was fouled when clean through on goal.

In the second half, St Albans fought back strongly and pulled a goal back with three minutes left on the clock.

As Chelmsford tried to hold on for the final moments, St Albans managed to earn a penalty stroke themselves, however they too failed to convert.

Chelmsford will now travel to the University of Cambridge in the last 32 of the competition, due to take place on 21 October.
