Preseason Round Up
COLCHESTER completed their preparations for life back in the Premier B Division with a fine 7-0 win away at Thurrock. Colchester looked comfortable throughout and took their chances early, with Matt Brown scoring twice and Rohan Khaira and Joe Rich with a goal a piece making it 4-0 at half time.
The second half saw Colchester adopt a different strategy trying out an extra man in midfield, this brought extra challenges but they coped well enough and added three more goals in the second half. Richard Sexton scoring one, and there were debut goals for twins Bertie and Ed Mortimer.
This result came on the back of two great performances in the last two weeks. Last week Colchester battled to a 3-3 draw away at Harleston Magpies with only the bare eleven players and the previous week comfortable 4-0 winners Felixstowe, a side they had played twice last season in division 1.
All in all a good preseason for Colchester and they will be looking to hit the ground running when they face Long Sutton in their first Premier B division match for two years at home on Saturday.
