FORMER Colchester youth player Mike Haywood tasted world cup final defeat last night after England’s Under-20s rugby side lost to New Zealand 33-22 in a titanic battle.
The Northampton Saints hooker started for England in the final of the IRB Junior World Championships in Italy.
But the gutsy men in white, who recovered from a ten-point deficit at half-time, were unable to prevent New Zealand from winning their fourth straight championship.
The ‘Baby Blacks’ have still never lost in the competition since its inception.
