Two of Colchester United’s injured players are on the brink of a return to action.
Kane Vincent-Young and Sammie Szmodics have both returned to training this week, and both have an outside chance of being involved in this weekend’s FA Cup first round tie against Oxford City.
However, it is perhaps more likely that wing-back Vincent-Young and attacking midfielder Szmodics will make their competitive return at Southend United in a Checkatrade Trophy group match next Tuesday evening.
“Kane (Vincent-Young) has returned to training this morning, and Sammie (Szmodics) has also been doing little bits, more then we had expected,” revealed U’s boss John McGreal at this lunchtime’s press conference at Florence Park, Tiptree.
“So we could toy with the idea of bringing them back into the squad for this weekend,” added McGreal.
