Colchester V 3 Ipswich V 5
IPSWICH V recorded a fine win over Colchester V. They approached the game in the right frame of mind and took the game to the home side from the start with some fine passing and movement. Alan Barker fired the visitors into the lead early on and Alex Bond followed soon with the first of his hat-trick of goals. A defensive reshuffle was enforced when Ben Larter sustained a nasty facial injury. This did not affect Ipswich and they continued to totally dominate the first period. Colchester could perhaps count themselves fortunate that it was only three by half time
with the Ipswich keeper having nothing to do.
The visitors carried on the good work from the first period, added a fourth goal and continued to play some great hockey. Colchester finally burst into life and broke from deep in midfield to score a couple of goals. Ipswich put the game beyond the reach of the home side with a fifth goal after a brilliant second half from Ben Hills.
