Cole Kpekawa has completed his move from Barnsley to Colchester United.
Nearly three years after his loan stay with the U’s, left-back Kpekawa has returned to the Weston Homes Community Stadium on a permanent deal, on undisclosed terms.
The 21-year-old played six games on loan with the U’s in the autumn of 2014, from QPR, and only last summer made the move from Loftus Road to Barnsley on a three-year contract.
But the Tykes have allowed him to leave, and now Kpekawa will be looking to resurrect his career at the League Two U’s.
Left wing-back Brennan Dickenson is not scheduled to return from his knee injury until after the new year, following surgery in late May, so Kpekawa could well get his chance in a similar role, although Lewis Kinsella is another contender.
