Danny King reflects on a week where his injury was diagnosed and how he enjoyed a fun night at A League Of Their Own
I have had more tests on my injured arm.
After a nerve conduction test and an MRI scan, apparently I’ve damaged the musculocutaneous nerve.
It’s not great and it’s what controls the signals to my biceps. At the moment it’s not telling the biceps in my left arm anything!
I’m off to London again later this week for more tests, so won’t be at Foxhall on Thursday.
I suppose at least I know what it is. But as for how long the nerve will take to recover, I just don’t know.
I’m staying positive and I get tingling in my arm at times which I like to think shows something is happening.
But I will have to wait and see.
The frustration for me of course is that in myself I feel fine.
I’m in no pain and I’m ready to start riding speedway any time. My bikes are all ready to do. But who knows how long this will all take? But it’s far too dangerous for me to try and hold onto a speedway bike!
At least I’m starting to get answers to what is actually going on.
In my career I’ve been lucky with injuries, so it is a case of biting the bullet and waiting.

I am still going to watch a few meetings and I was at Leicester on Monday night.
Unfortunately for the Lions, Poole took the points. They rode well and deserved the win.
I was at Leicester because I have plenty of sponsors who have helped me out there.
So, I wanted to go along and meet some of them.
As regards the Witches, well they don’t seem to have had many meetings again lately, just last week’s defeat at Sheffield.
I didn’t go to that, but heard we were really unlucky.
How could it be that we were on a 5-1 in heats two and three and yet in heat two Connor Mountain slowed up and Jack Smith fell? In heat three Nico Covatti and Cameron Heeps were leading, when Lasse Bjerre hit Cam from behind.
That was not great and not only did we lose Cam for that meeting, but because he suffered a bit of concussion, we are missing him against Workington on Thursday and Edinburgh on Friday.
How much more bad luck can we have?
So, it’s the Comets from Workington at Foxhall on Thursday and Scott Nicholls is guesting in my place.
I know Scott will give it 110% as he always does and I know he is still very popular with the fans at Ipswich, being a local lad.
We are going to miss Cam though, he’s been really good around Foxhall lately.
His rider replacement rides can be taken by Nico Covatti, Jonas Jeppesen and our reserves.
Everyone is going to need to come to the party because Workington are on a real roll.
They won three meetings in three days starting last Friday, twice on the road, including a win at Newcastle with only six riders – and two of them didn’t score a point!
In Dan Bewley you have the British No.2 and British U19 champion and we all know how well Ty Proctor and Mason Campton go around Foxhall.
Basically all the boys have to be on it.

I had a right laugh earlier this week.
I went to see a recording of A League Of Their Own at the Elstree Studios, near Borehamwood.
Witches press officer Henry Chard sorted the tickets and along with one of his mates, me, and Ritchie Hawkins, we had a great time.
It took nearly three hours to film what in the end is a one-hour show and it was fascinating to watch.
I’ve been a big fan of ALOTO since it started.
In fact I haven’t missed an episode. I think we are on series 13.
And it got even better.
At the end of the show, gold wrist band holders were allowed to go back to meet the stars of the show, Andrew Flintoff, Jamie Redknapp, James Corden and Romesh Ranganathan, as were those whose names were read out.... And yes our names were read out.
It was cool to meet the stars of the show and we all had a great blast.
I did feel sorry for Ritchie though.
On about the only night of the year where he offers to drive... there was a free bar! You should have seen his face.
I shouldn’t laugh.
I wanted to give him a little cuddle actually, he looked so disappointed when he found out.
Still, a great time had by all and thanks to Henry for organising.
Well, we’ve all got World Cup fever, although I’m not a mad keen football fan.
In fact I play the game far better than I support it.
When I was younger I went to Chelsea quite a bit and Ritchie has taken me to Peterborough United a few times.
But it’s not really my bag. But of course, I want nothing more than England to win the World Cup.
Here’s hoping.
