BLUES boss Jim Magilton has warned Danny Haynes he still has much to learn if he is going to step up from being a supersub after being given a start at Hillsborough.

He said: “Danny doesn't make the same impact from the start. He is a young man who has to learn from that.

“We can't always have conditions that suit Danny Haynes and if he is knocking on my door wanting to play from the start then he has to play better than he did against Wednesday.”

Magilton also served a warning to his players next season if they continue to blow hot and cold.

Despite playing well in patches Ipswich were doubled by the Owls to halt their three-match winning run.

Magilton said: “I certainly won't be so forgiving next season.”

Magilton was angry at the way his side could not convert pressure into points.

He said: “We controlled possession for large chunks of the game and took care of the ball quite well but we lacked in the final third and we conceded two poor goals. They were elementary mistakes by not going with runners, although I'm not sure if the second was offside.

“We seem to come alive when we are behind and forced the game after we went two down.

“We will try and take the positives from this and look at a big game on Saturday against Derby.
