Colchester United boss Joe Dunne felt that his side fully deserved their 1-0 win over Port Vale this afternoon.
Gavin Massey’s close-range winner, in the 74th minute, made it two league wins out of two for the U’s, following on from an earlier 1-0 success at Gillingham.
Dunne enthused: “I thought it was a good win.
“We started the game exceptionally well with the team that I picked, which was an attacking one.
“The onus was on my front four to create, which they did.
“Port Vale had just one or two chances after we went 1-0 up, but that will always happen in football. We were resilient and did enough to hold out.
“On the balance of play, I felt we deserved the win,” added Dunne.
The U’s next fixture is a tough test at Sheffield United next Saturday.
