Frank Hill of Thorpeness and his amateur partner Brian Underwood defend their PGA Super Seniors title at Forest Pines, near Scunthorpe, next Wednesday and Thursday.
PGA East Region captain Hill said: “We have played three times in this event. The first year we were third, the second year we finished second and last year we won it. There is no pressure, but I don't want to go backwards.”
It is a better ball event in which both professional and amateur must be aged over 60. Former Ryder Cup player Lionel Platts and Harry Flatman, formerly of Romford, who was East Anglian Open champion in 1966, 1970, 1974 and 1975, are in the field. Platts was East Anglian champion in 1963 and Hill in 1981.
