Colchester 1 Canterbury II 1

COLCHESTER knew the match against Canterbury last Saturday would be tough, however they were confident of the home advantage and strength in the squad to win. Colchester started the match well and maintained most of the possession. Ellison’s man of the match Anna Foley facilitated a number of great moves down the right hand side, with Kirsty Barber and Jo Hill.

The first half finished 0-0 and Colchester were confident they could take three points from the game, after a number of chances were missed. The second half began like the first, but Canterbury scored first after a player crept into the penalty area unmarked. Colchester bounced back and after a number of chances the score was level. The goal came from some great linked play between Anna Foley, Lucy Struth and Kirsty Barber, for Karen Harris to take the ball into the goal.

The game finished 1-1 and whilst there was disappointment that three points were not achieved, Colchester were happy with their performance and remain hopeful that they will stay in the league.
