Fen Tigers thrash Plymouth as Mildenhall march on

It was business as usual in the West Suffolk sunshine as Mildenhall Fen Tigers rattled up another big total to take control of their National Trophy group, writes Phil Kirk.

The visiting Plymouth Devils struggled to gain any kind of foothold in the meeting with two shared heats and one heat winner being the only positives in their afternoon.

Adam Roynon was the lone heat winner in heat 13 and along with the feisty Henry Atkins were the only visitors to provide any challenge to the home side.

Josh Bailey set the meeting off in fine style with the fastest time of the season at Mildenhall, only 1.2 outside the track record, with his team-mates all on their game from the off.

Danny Halsey had a fine return with paid ten from his four rides while acting captain Ryan Kinsley followed his 15 points match-winning performance at Kent with another 15, this time a paid maximum.

He was nearly joined in the maximum stakes by the excellent Danny Ayres, who only dropped a point to Roynon in heat 13 whilst the lively reserve pairing of Drew Kemp and Matt Marson were paid for 23 points between them.

This victory took the Fen Tigers to 20 points from their National Trophy campaign from their six matches so far and incredible plus 142 meeting points difference.

Promoter Kevin Jolly was pleased with another fine all round performance.

“Everybody is contributing well and driving each other forward,” he said.

“Apart from Josh’s exclusion we never recorded a last place and overwhelmed Plymouth much as we did at their place earlier in the season.

“Giving Ryan the captaincy while Jordan is out seems to have spurred him on to even better things and his last two meetings have shown everyone why we rate the boy so highly.

“Another win next weekend when the Isle of Wight visit should see us into our first final of the season so all looks good just now but we won’t be easing off the gas for sure, these boys want it all and they are going the right way about it.”
