THIS afternoon’s fixtures mark the final day of the Ridgeons League after eight years as sponsors.
The Ridgeons Group announced in January that it would be ending its financial backing of the Eastern Counties League at the end of this season.
The news came just a fortnight after proposals to revamp Step 5 football from the 2013/14 season onwards were revealed by the Football Association, although the Ridgeons Group’s decision was made before then.
The final match under the Ridgeons banner will be the League Cup final between Norwich United and Stanway Rovers at Diss Town FC on Monday, May 7.
The league has attracted a new sponsor for next season, although details have yet to released.
