WORLD champion Mo Farah will begin his Olympic year at the Aviva International Match at Kelvin Hall, in Glasgow, next month.

The 5,000 metres runner, who is also European champion and a world silver medallist over 10,000 metres, will debut for Great Britain and Northern Ireland on January 28, his first appearance at the venue since breaking the British 3,000m record in 2009.

Oregon-based Farah is one of Britain’s great hopes for Olympic glory in London and said: “It’s going to be really good to compete at the Aviva International Match again.

“Since I’ve moved out to the USA I really appreciate coming back to the UK to compete and it will be great to get a race so early on in the year.

“It’s been a while since I’ve kicked off the season so early but this year I’m keen to keep up the competition and just take the momentum from one meet to the next.”
