A local hockey player has been given an award by the Suffolk Hockey Association after scoring a staggering 43 goals for her team this season.

Chloe Williams, 20, who plays up front for Felixstowe Ladies 1st team, played a huge part in her team’s excellent season, which saw them finish as runner-up in the Suffolk Premier League.

Williams was given her award at the Suffolk Hockey Association AGM on Tuesday.

Felixstowe Hockey Club’s ladies’ club captain Rebecca Williams said: “Chloe has been our top goal scorer for the last couple of seasons but this is her highest ever tally.

“Everyone at the club is really proud of her and she’s a great example of someone who works really hard at training and who is committed to improving every week. She’s got a great future and is a key member of our club.”

Williams added: “I wouldn’t have been able to score as many goals if it wasn’t for the great team around me. We all worked really hard together this season and only just missed out on finishing top and being promoted to the East league.

“Felixstowe is a great club and they’ve supported me and helped me improve my game and I really love my hockey!”

Felixstowe Hockey Club will be running a free scheme called ‘Give it a Go’ this summer, for anyone who would like to try hockey, or who may have played before and would like to get back into it. Details will be made available soon via the website and social media.
