Female Brazilian gymnasts qualify for Olympics after stint in Ipswich

BRAZIL’S female artistic gymnastic team will compete at this year’s Olympics after becoming one of the final four nations to book their berth.

The team, who prepared for their qualification at Pipers Vale Gymnastics Club in Ipswich and lived in the town over the festive period, joined Italy, Canada and France after finishing in the top four of the eight teams at the second qualification event at the London Prepares test event, in North Greenwich.

Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Korea missed out and will not take the full berth of five gymnasts each to London 2012.
