Ipswich Witches 55 Scunthorpe Scorpions 35
:IPSWICH ‘Sackers’ Witches have given themselves a great chance of cup progression after seeing Scunthorpe off at Foxhall Stadium. The Suffolk side will take a 20-point lead to Lincolnshire next Friday, but for the first third of this meeting, that looked most unlikely. Tentative and cautious, the home side were just two points down after heat five heats and looking anything but a side who were going to build up a big advantage. But with skipper Kevin Doolan to the fore, the home side got to grips on proceedings and have given themselves a more than decent chance of progressing through to the next round against Newport. Every Witch won a race and a purple patch in the middle of the meeting put last night’s tie to bed for the Witches.
