PETERBOROUGH have completed the signing of spectacular American World Cup star Ryan Fisher.

The 29-year-old returns to the Elite League full-time with the Readypower Panthers in 2013, coming in on a converted 5.27 average after spending last season in the Premier League with Plymouth.

Fisher started his British career with parent club Coventry back in 2002, but after taking time out of the sport in Europe it was a three year spell with Edinburgh in 2008-10 which really re-ignited his career.

Back with the Bees in the top-flight in 2011 he averaged over six, and Panthers fans will recall some of his frantic battles with their top riders during that season.

This year, Fisher made a remarkable guest appearance for the Panthers against Swindon in August, helping a much-depleted side to victory over the eventual champions with three unbeaten rides before suffering a heavy crash, from which he thankfully emerged relatively unscathed.

He joins Linus Sundstrom and Kenni Larsen as confirmed signings for the 2013 campaign, with the management currently working to confirm other deals.

Panthers co-boss Jan Staechmann said: “Ryan is a guy who gives no less than 100 per cent every time the tapes go up, and the Peterborough faithful saw last season what he is capable of around the East of England Showground.

“When guesting for us, Ryan slotted right into our team, and it was as if he had always been there, securing no less than three maximum 5-1 victories, and I am looking forward to having him in the team full-time.

“Having grown up on the small tracks in the States, Ryan has a wealth of experience on all kinds of tracks, and is a superb all-round rider who will fit in nicely with our team spirit.

“He is hard-working and takes everything in his stride, and is even braving the British winter with his family, having elected to stay at their East Midlands base.”
