ESSEX’S Reece Topley reaffirmed his position as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Australia today.
Topley, who turned in his second man-of-the-match performance and has now taken 16 wickets in total, claimed five for 32 off ten overs as England beat Bangladesh by four wickets in Townsville in the fifth place play-off semi-final.
England restricted the Tigers to 217 for seven, despite opener Litton Das scoring 102 and Anamul Haque 56.
Topley’s Essex team mate Ben Foakes continued his consistent form with the bat, scoring 47 in a second-wicket stand of 84 with Sam Wood as England won with ten balls to spare.
The win earns England a fifth place final against either Pakistan or West Indies, who play tomorrow.
