Long Melford 0, Swaffham Town 0
MELFORD could have taken the lead when after only four minutes Skeggs neatly played in Statham, but he screwed his shot just wide of the post. Both sides had further chances before half-time but, partly thanks to home keeper Wood and partly due to inaccurate shooting it was 0-0 at the break. It was a much brighter start to the second period for Melford with two quick efforts on goal, Brind having his piledriver deflected for a corner. It was taken by Grindrod and found Skeggs who put his header wide from the penalty box area. Stokes was unlucky with three good efforts, with a shot cleared off the line by Russell, keeper Brookes pushing another shot over the bar and the third effort skimming the Swaffham post. Grindrod's angled shot from three yards was pushed round the post by keeper Brookes. Then a Swaffham cross eluded keeper Woods and hit the post. The resulting rebound was hacked off the line by Peters. In the dying minutes it seemed that Melford had snatched a late victory following a goalmouth scramble but two efforts were cleared off the line
