The 39-year-old looks set to be joining Ridgeons Premier League Wivenhoe Town, where former team-mate Julian Dicks is manager.
There is no denying Dicks still has many contacts in the game in England and especially among former friends and team-mates.
Slater could make his debut on Saturday when the Dragons entertain Haverhill Rovers.
