A Suffolk hockey club is seeking boys to join a new team it is able to set up following a Lottery grant.

Framlingham Hockey Club received the Sport England Lottery Fund to expand its already growing ranks.

Boys aged 11-16 are invited to join, regardless of experience. Over the summer, they can take part in camps and an open day. From September there will be weekly training sessions, matches and tournaments. It is hoped the boys will aspire to play in the men’s league.

Club chairman Mike Tilbrook said: “We are really excited about this opportunity to get boys in our area involved in hockey and develop a team.

“It’s a great way to get fit, be part of a team, make new friends, learn new skills, compete in matches and most importantly have fun.

“We are a small family friendly club and we hope to encourage boys to come along, develop their skills and play matches at our summer activities.”

The summer camps are on Thursday August 17 and 24 from 1-4pm at Framlingham College and cost £10 each. The open day is Sunday September 2 from 10am-noon at Framlingham College, costing £5.

Weekly junior boys training will start Wednesday, September 13, 6-7pm at the college.

Parents or guardians can book by sending an email to or by joining FaceBook/Framlingham Hockey Club and posting a message expressing interest.

The club already have two established women’s teams and an under 17s girls’ team.
