A MUCH-IMPROVED second-half display saw Bury take the spoils.

Bury took the lead on three minutes when Brenton Krammer kicked a penalty from a ruck offence.

Both sides launched themselves at each other for the next 15 minutes but defences were on top.

Diss’ Fuller was sin-binned for cynically tripping Kenny Eggars but the hosts failed to take advantage, following some poor execution.

Deghlan Hall, the Diss No8, was becoming more influential and his ball-carrying began to find holes in the Bury defence.

A good off-load out of the tackle allowed Bray to power into the Bury half and, in desperation, a penalty was conceded which Chris Beaird landed to level the scores.

The half drew to a close with two penalty attempts, Krammer converting one of the kicks after yards gained by James Maclachlan had prompted a penalty.

Beaird had the chance to level the scores on the stroke of half-time but his kick drifted agonisingly wide.

Diss made the brighter start to the second-half and when Bury’s Sam Bixby found himself isolated, he was inevitably penalised for holding on. Beaird’s fine kick brought the scores level again.

Bury responded well to the set back and Eggars’ break sent Cooke racing away only for him to be bundled into touch eight metres short.

A series of rucks saw Diss players not roll away quick enough and eventually the referee lost patience and awarded Bury a penalty.

Krammer’s attempt came back off the upright, almost creating a try for Matt Page. However, the diminutive scrum-half just lost control of the ball as he dived for the line.

Diss then showed a rare piece of enterprise to culminate in them taking the lead.

A fine break down the right saw Beaird in space and he was tripped as he chased his clever kick ahead. Harry Gooderham was sent to the bin for his act and Beaird landed a superb kick from wide out.

With Diss leading, up stepped Eggars to take control.

A superb show and go, saw him ghost through the Diss midfield. The ball went wide to Chris Snelling to carry the move on before passing the ball back inside for Eggars to race round under the posts. Krammer added the extras

The Bury front row were beginning to cause problems for their opposite numbers and their pressure created space for Matt Eddison to peel off blind and make ground.

The ball came back quickly and Eggars cut through several tacklers to score an unconverted try in the corner. Krammer could not convert from the touchline but, at 18-9, the game as a contest was over.
