GAVIN Johnson said “it just seemed right” as the reason he has signed for Ridgeons League Premier Division side Walsham-le-Willows.
The former Ipswich Town and Colchester midfielder, who will be 40 in October, decided to join Walsham despite “six or seven” clubs expressing an interest in signing him.
Johnson, who last season helped Bury Town gain promotion from the Zamaretto League Midlands Division One, said: “After meeting the chairman and manager I had a good feeling about the club, and I also know one or two players who were at Bury Town.
“Although I spoke to a couple of other clubs, it just seemed right to join Walsham so I politely declined their offers.
“I am joining just to play football and help the younger lads along, and see if the club can push on from last season.”
