GOALS at last for Ipswich Town as they picked up a timely and deserved victory over a limited Queens Park Rangers side in the Championship at Portman Road this afternoon.

It was their second double of the season - Coventry was the first - and it was a win that lifts a huge weight off the shoulders of manager Jim Magilton.

Alan Lee broke the deadlock - Town's first goal in 592 minutes - when he headed in a left wing 26th minute cross by Gary Roberts.

It was Roberts who played in Jonathan Walters for his first Town goal in the 54th minute.

But Rangers hit back through substitute Paul Furlong in the 71st minute although the Londoners never seriously looked like equalising after that.

Town will now go into games at Hull on Tuesday and against Southend next Saturday in a much more confident frame of mind.
