Hadleigh United FC Clacton 1
Hadleigh United kicked off their new season, in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, with an emphatic 5-1 win over FC Clacton at Millfield tonight.
The score-line was a little harsh on FC Clacton, who actually took an early lead through Karl Andrade’s strike, only for Jack Severy to equalise by converting Jack Cassell’s delivery to make it 1-1 at half-time.
It was Cassell himself who put the hosts into a 2-1 lead with a close-range finish.
Clacton almost pulled a goal back when Andrade struck the bar, but it soon got event better for Hadleigh as one of their new recruits, Danny Thrower, bagged the third goal with a good run and deadly finish.
Another of Hadleigh’s summer signings, left-back Marco Makris from Woodbridge Town, made it 4-1, and there was still time for Cassell to score his second and Hadleigh’s fifth, helped by some poor defending from the visitors, to cap a fine second-half display.
