MAGPIES II fought out an entertaining goalless draw with Brentwood. The game was played at a furious pace with both sides looking to gain the vital victory in the hunt for promotion.

Magpies had the most of the first half but they found the resolute Brentwood defence difficult to break down. When they did they found the Brentwood keeper in excellent form, making several excellent saves. Brentwood relied heavily on the aerial ball which the Magpies defence of Sam Moore, Phil Cobbald, Will Harrison and Craig Snelling coped with well. When they did manage to break through Brentwood found Magpies keeper in good form.

The second half followed a similar pattern with Magpies doing most of the pressing, but Brentwood looked a threat on the break. The longer the game went the more Brentwood came into the game but neither side could find the breakthrough.

Even the added support of injured first team left back Andrew Bedwell could not give the team the added something to beat the Brentwood keeper.

Man of the match went to Simon Hipwell playing his first game of the season. Next up for the two is table-topping Letchworth's visit to Weybread where Magpies will be looking to continue their good form at home.
