Havering 3 Colchester II 1

This was a game of missed chances and more disappointment. Colchester chasing only their second win of the season played some of their best hockey of the season but failed to convert a hat full of chances and ended up losing 3 -1 to a clinical Havering side.

Havering settled the quicker of the two teams and Colchester had to work hard to contain them. Having weathered this early storm Colchester began to enjoy more of the possession and should have been ahead but it was Havering who took the lead. A great pass across the goal was tapped in for their first and disaster struck when a shot towards goal was deflected passed Colchester's keeper for Havering's second. Colchester responded and could easily have been level by the break. Julie Sexton, Kate Bagley and Stella Layzell all going close.

In the second half Colchester completely dominated play and mid way through the half they were finally rewarded. Rozze Bookless took a free hit at the top of the circle and Stella Layzell was on hand to deflect the ball passed the advancing keeper. With the bit firmly between their teeth Colchester pushed hard for an equaliser. But again Colchester failed to convert any of their chances. With the clock ticking down Colchester committed players forward and against the run of play Havering broke away to score their third and sealed the win.
