Colchester United manager, John McGreal, was full of praise for centre-half Tom Eastman after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Newport County.
Eastman delivered a man-of-the-match performance at Rodney Parade, both in his familiar defensive role as part of a three-man central defence, but also his impressive runs forward with the ball.
The ex-Ipswich defender certainly has good ability on the ball, for a big man.
McGreal enthused: “Tom (Eastman) has grown into the role.
“He’s nearly had a shot and also put in a superb ball in the second half, a brilliant ball – that’s what he can do.
“Of course defensively Tom was really, really solid.
“And now he is bringing in that bit of a bonus, into his game, of being comfortable in possession when going forward,” added McGreal.
The U’s are on the road again this Saturday, away at Exeter City.
