Bury were up against lower-placed opposition and playing to finish on a high for their last game of the season. The opposition started aggressively, hoping to use physical play to break down the Bury side which fielded a number of youngsters. However, the pressure did nothing but spur Bury on and Will Tew scored at the far post, finishing off a wonderful team effort which made the Pelicans look like they were stuck in a muddy river bed.

In the second half, the fitness and pace of the younger Bury side began to show and Bury were able to take control of the game again. Elliot Smith, Ed Thompson and Will Tew combined well to dominate the midfield. The Pelicans became increasingly more frustrated and started to resort to a series of dangerous tackles. Alex Gospel managed to settle Bury's nerves, finishing in style from another well worked move that tore the Pelicans defence apart.

Pelicans pushed hard to get a consolation but their efforts were in vain, with Millbank, Morford and Flack solid at the back. Pelicans' frustration and rough play was rewarded with a yellow card. At this point it appeared as if the opposition had given up the ghost and their half hearted play led to Bury winning a series of short corners. Gospel was on the mark again putting a rebound into the back off the net. Shortly afterwards Jojo Parry sealed the game for Bury with a drag-flick. Based on this, their third win on the trot, Bury are now secure in fourth place in the league with one game to go.
