North Walsham 4 Sudbury Ladies 1

The last game of the season saw Sudbury make the long journey to the North Norfolk coast but Sudbury's season has been epitomised by the team spirit and banter enjoyed by the players, so the two hours-plus journey just served to get the team in good humour before the start.

The slightly relaxed approach to the last game did not pay off, with North Walsham clinically scoring three goals within 18 minutes, two from short corners and one from open play.

Sudbury had had some good early chances and knuckled down to defend more tightly and create chances on the Walsham goal. Youngster Becky Spencer had an outstanding game, hassling and chasing for every ball as well as showing considerable skill in beating her marker. Vicky Haylock and Debbie King went close but there were no goals for Sudbury until they were awarded a flick. Sarah Wordley stepped up to score her first goal of the season, making no mistake with a low hard shot to the goalkeeper's right. At half-time Sudbury still felt in the game and Sarah Taverner and Jenny Brown continued to win possession in midfield and link well with Spencer and King, but goals from open play didn't come. Walsham added to their tally with 10 minutes to play and the game finished 4-1. Becky Spencer was player-of-the-match. Sudbury have finished the season ninth out of 12 teams and well clear of the bottom three.
