Luke Varney returned to the Ipswich Town side at the end of 2015 after six months out with an achilles injury, with a new found love of gymnastics playing a large part in his return.
The striker suffered the injury in the first leg of the play-off semi-final clash with Norwich in May, but remained with the club despite being out of contract, before signing a new deal in December.
He returned to action on December 19 against Derby, but it might not have happened at all had it not been for his spell working at Pipers Vale gymnastics centre in the town.
Varney spoke to chief football writer Stuart Watson about how his work there was able to speed up his recovery, as well as the origins of his ‘Reg’ nickname.
