Division 2N

Ipswich East Suffolk 3 March Town 1

Ipswich East Suffolk were made to work hard for victory against already relegated March Town.

The visitors have always been a bit of a nemesis for IES and, with the pressure for results off, they fielded a youthful side looking to gain experience.

IES opened the scoring through Taylor's straight penalty corner strike and the hosts doubled their lead shortly afterwards as Gooderham stayed forward after a run from right back and bundled home Borwick's pass.

IES had numerous other chances to score their third, but dropped their clean sheet after an aerial ball was put beyond Lane. IES argued that the ball hadn't been touched inside the 'D' but the umpire took no heed to their arguments.

The game was evenly poised until Taylor again scored, this time through a trademark turn and shot which beat the keeper easily.

The second half was one to forget for IES as they battled against a resilient visiting side.

IES had many more chances to score but failed to convert any, giving the visiting keeper easy saves to make or missing the goal.

IES now seek a fourth place finish when they resume matches on March 29 against Spalding.
