FORMER Real Madrid defender Cesar Navas and French right back Arsene Menassou will tonight look to impress Blues boss Jim Magilton in a friendly at Crawley Town.

Magilton has rested David Wright and skipper Jason De Vos for the trip to Broadfield Road, kick-off 7.45pm.

Although he has not played in the first team Navas, 27, was a regular for Real Madrid's second side Castilla, who play in the Spanish second division, before making the switch to Malaga where he played alongside Pablo Counago.

The centre half was last season loaned to Gimnastic and has been linked with a number of Premiership clubs including Reading, Sunderland and Aston Villa.

Young full-back Menassou is on trial from French club Le Havre and is expected to start tonight.

Jaime Peters will finally begin his pre-season training with Ipswich after a visa mix up.

The international has been playing for his country in the FIFA Under-20s World Cup in Canada but was due back to Portman Road last Friday.

But Peters was not allowed to board his flight as he did not have the necessary visa.

Peters thought he was picking up the necessary document at the airport, but instead it was being delivered to his home.

The winger had to wait until it arrived before booking another flight and is expected to be back in Suffolk in the next 36 hours.

Pablo Counago is expected to have recovered from a knock on the knee he suffered at Rushden and Diamonds to play a part while Neil Alexander and Tommy Miller should also get extended run-outs.

The Reds have been through some serious financial difficulties but new manager Steve Evans has made nine new signings recently.

His side will have a distinctive international feel with the former Colchester United midfielder, Frenchman Thomas Pinault, Brazilian Mango Viera and Cameroon forward Guy Madjo all hoping to impress.

Town will prepare for the game at the Arora International Hotel before the game as part of the sponsorship package organised by Crawley.
