Ipswich athlete Helen Davies scorched to victory in the Brighton Marathon today.

The Ipswich JAFFA runner, 37, was tackling her first marathon since 2012 after giving birth to her two children.

And she dominated the field on the coast, claiming victory in 2 hours 42 minutes 40 seconds, almost four minutes ahead of second-placed Hayley Munn (2:46:00).

The win, at an event which saw 10,000 runners compete, is a big boost for Davies, who represented England in the Commonwealth Games back in 2010.

She’s also run for Great Britain in the European Championships, and holds an incredible 12 club records over seven different distances from 5K to the marathon with JAFFA.

Her marathon PB, set in London in 2012, is 2:34:11.

Stuart Hawkes won the men’s race in Brighton, finishing with a time of 2:27:36. Ollie Garrod finished second with a time of 2:31:32.
