Dominic Iorfa is still hopeful of a future with Wolves but, if he becomes a casualty of the Championship leaders’ mega-money approach, a permanent move to Ipswich Town would appeal.
The loanee is ineligible to face his parent club on Saturday, having moved to Portman Road on a temporary basis at a time when Wolves have flexed their financial muscles to assemble a squad which looks destined for the Premier League.
Iorfa fully expects Nuno Espírito Santo’s side to go on and win promotion, but is hopeful of doing enough during his time at Portman Road to remain in the Molineux club’s plans.
“They are having a great season and from what I’ve seen from them they should get promoted, really,” Iorfa said.

“I have no idea (what the future holds) because if they get promoted I can see them spending again so hopefully I can do as well as I can with the loan to be in their thinking and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.
“They are clear at the top and they are going up so you would like to think that kind of team is only going to be strengthened again but we’ll see. I’m optimistic and hopefully I will do as well as I can.
“I’m still contracted to Wolves and I still have an eye on them too, so until they say they don’t want me I have hopes of being in their plans.
“When the season is done I’ll sit down with them and see what happens in the summer. My focus is on Ipswich and we have a play-off push so my mind is fully on that.”
Iorfa feels his game has improved under Blues boss Mick McCarthy and, if the opportunity presented itself, a move to Ipswich on a full-time basis would appeal.

“If the option came up then yes because I’m enjoying my football here,” he said.
“I get along with the staff and with the players so we’ll see what happens.
“The gaffer has given me game time, which is crucial first and foremost, which after the second half of last season is what I wanted.
“I think he (McCarthy) has improved me as well and tactically he’s made me a bit more aware, although I still need to work hard on my defensive side. I think I’m still improving in that aspect and I think that’s down to him as well.
“I’ve had opportunities where I feel like I could have scored more so I need to add that to my game as well.”
