IT might only be a behind-closed-doors Reserves’ fixture, and a friendly at that, but Shane O’Connor is looking forward to this afternoon’s run-out at Millwall.

In fact, it’s a big moment for O’Connor, who played five of Ipswich Town’s first six games of the season before suffering a training ground injury while away with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s.

Left-back O’Connor tore his hamstring, which prevented him from playing any international football and ultimately forced him onto the sidelines for the last five weeks.

Since then, his left-back slot has been filled by three different players - Mark Kennedy, Jaime Peters and Darren O’Dea.

But now O’Connor is on the comeback trail, starting against Millwall’s second string in south London this afternoon.

Other senior squad members due to play include Luciano Civelli, Conor Hourihane, Damien Delaney and Reggie Lambe.
