Former Ipswich Town academy and Bury Town keeper Nick Pope has signed for Premier League Burnley.

The Clarets, back in the Premier League after a one-season absence, have agreed a three-year deal with the option of another year with Pope, who’s a huge Ipswich Town fan.

Pope, 24, was Charlton’s number one last season in a campaign which ended in their relegation from the Championship.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was eager to bring in another goalkeeper to provide cover for Tom Heaton.

Speaking of Pope, he said: “He’s a young keeper who we think has got a lot of promise.”
