FABIAN Wilnis, who travelled to Charlton by car to keep his flu virus away from his team-mates, today used his position to give his team mates an urgent message.

“We have to be desperate to improve our away form now,” said the 37-year-old Dutchman.

“If not it could be a serious problem.

“As a senior player at this club I think I am right in giving this warning as this hoodoo cannot go on.

“We can try to make excuses, but at the end of the day there is no excuse for giving away three bad goals.”

Wilnis spent all day Friday in bed and drove home alone to return to bed after Saturday's 3-1 defeat.

“Despite sweating so much on Friday I was desperate to play,” he added.

“We played Charlton off the park after the interval, and if we had played like that all game we would have won easily.

“We showed that we are a better team than they are. But it was too late.”
