Former Ipswich Town hero Ian Marshall will be hosting an open football session on Thursday April 9, between 11am-2pm.

The event is aimed at giving school leavers or anyone aged 16–18 an insight into what his football academy, based at Gresham’s Sports and Social Club, will offer learners from September 2015. Prospective pupils are asked to arrive by 10.30am.

The academy in partnership with PTC Group will be offering learners the chance to complete a BTEC level 3 Diploma in Sports Studies or an NVQ level 2 Activity Leadership qualification. On top of the educational offer the learners will also receive over 10 hours football coaching per week from Marshall and another former Town hero, Jason Dozzell.

Marshall who scored 32 goals in 84 appearances for Ipswich said: “I’d like anyone who has a passion for football to come along to our session at Gresham’s on the 9th April, it will be a fantastic day and will give anyone leaving school or 16-18 an idea of just what we will be offering learners from September 2015.

“It really is a unique alternative to college, but equally as satisfying in terms of furthering your career if you don’t make the grade as a professional player.”

The course starting in September 2015 is fully-funded for anyone aged 16-18.
