Ipswich v Bolton: A Carlos Edwards goal, two minutes from time, gave the Blues a 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers, and a crucial three points.

The Town skipper pounced at the second attempt with two minutes left to play, firing home at the back post after his first shot, from substitute Jay Emmanuel-Thomas’ cut back had been blocked by Marcos Alonso.

Town had the better chances of a poor game with Edwards and Andy Drury going close with first-half headers, the latter’s being well saved by Andy Lonergan.

Daryl Murphy missed an opportunity to give his side the lead when one-on-one with Lonergan, firing over the bar, before forcing the keeper into a good save as he attempted to double the hosts’ lead.

The game looked to be petering out towards a goalless draw, with the visitors creating little, until Edwards struck his first goal since March 19, 2011.
