Ipswich Town lost 3-2 at Colchester United in a friendly on Tuesday evening.
Kevin Bru gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time, only for Alex Gilbey to equalise shortly after the break.
David McGoldrick put Town back in front from the penalty spot, but late goals from Gilbey and Gavin Massey handed the U’s a pre-season boost.
Town featured trialists Giles Coke and Larsen Toure in their team, the latter lasting half an hour of the first half before being substituted.
