Ipswich Town are trailing Southampton, 1-0, in the FA Cup Third Round replay at Portman Road.
Shane Long’s sharp 19th-minute finish was a touch fortuitous, the Irishman finishing well at the back post after Luke Chambers’ well-timed challenge in the 18-yard box saw the ball roll to his feet.
Town struggled to create chances in the first half, although Stephen Hunt did have a goal ruled out for offside when he looked to be level with the Saints’ last line of defence.
