The Blues bounced back from Tuesday night’s defeat at Cardiff by thoroughly beating a Preston side ravaged by injuries, with a truly forgettable opening 45 minutes lit up in added time by Waghorn’s curled free-kick (0.36).
The game was as good as killed off just a few minutes after the break when McGoldrick rose to head home a superb cross from Jordan Spence (0.55). From there, Preston were beaten.
Jonas Knudsen fired a shot just over (1.20) and also headed wide, as Ipswich pushed for more, but it was Celina who notched number three as he combined with Spence before firing into the back of the net (1.31).
The victory moves the Blues up to seventh in the Championship table, with a game in hand on many of those around them heading into the international break.
