IPSWICH Town midfielder Conor Hourihane is on trial at League Two side Plymouth Argyle.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international signed a fresh six-month contract with the Blues in May, but is now way down the central-midfield pecking order with manager Paul Jewell having signed Lee Bowyer and also looking to add another in that position.

Having trained with the cash-strapped Devon side earlier today he could feature in a pre-season friendly against Cornish side Truro City tomorrow night.

Signed by Roy Keane from Sunderland a year ago, Hourihane has appeared on the Blues bench on a number of occasions but is yet to make his first team debut. The Cork-born player was taken on the recent pre-season tour of Holland but failed to make an appearance.

Fellow Irishman Shane O’Connor, another Keane signing, is currently on trial with League Two new-boys Crawley Town who are weighing up whether to offer the 21-year-old a contract.
