ROY Keane revealed that he had not considered packing in his job this week, despite the Club’s current plight, during this morning’s Portman Road press conference.

Keane had tellingly shaved off the beard that he had sported last weekend, at Preston, which is often a good gauge of his mood.

“I’ve had a few days to myself away from everybody,” revealed Keane.

“I went up to Manchester for a few days to speak to a few friends, nothing football-related, but people whose opinion I trust,

“I just took a step back from it all. I have not thought about packing it in,” added Keane.

Owner Marcus Evans released a statement to the EADT last night, reinforcing his commitment to getting Ipswich Town into the Premier League, although tellingly he did not mention Keane.

The Irishman would not be drawn on whether he had spoken to Mr Evans during the week, despite his side’s terrible recent run of six league defeats on the bounce.
