IPSWICH Town have announced they will cutting match-day ticket prices for games that are graded in the C category.

This will include the first match of the season against Blackburn Rovers, a Portman Road match that would normally be deemed Grade A.

Prices for the third-tier games will be cut by around 20 per cent while matches at A, B and D grades will be frozen.

Chief executive Simon Clegg said: “Blackburn are obviously recently relegated from the Premier League and wouldn’t normally be classed as a Grade C game but it’s our first Championship match of the season and a good opportunity for us to offer the very competitive ticket prices.

“The ticket price trial was relatively successful last season and we have taken that into consideration with our matchday ticket prices.

“We have kept prices frozen in three categories with a significant reduction in Grade C games but it’s important to recognise the commitment of those fans who purchase season tickets and that will always remain the most cost efficient way of watching this club.”

The decision was made following a trial price initiative run by the club at two games last season.

Town will continue to discount match ticket prices purchased before matchday, with supporters paying an additional 2.50 for adults and concessions and 1 for U16s for tickets bought on the day.

Supporters purchasing home match tickets online will not have to pay booking fees.
